I just bought a CASE 580C backhoe from 1980 and came with no reverse.
I purchased the Service manual and did pressure test on the shuttle as per procedure.
It has good pump pressure on idle and 2000RMP as per specs.
Also has good (same pressure 65 -145) idle/2000 RPM in Forward and Reverse but Forward tries to move the machine (1st. gear on the standard shift) but does not move at all.
Book procedure suggests Control valve which I took apart 2 times and everything is fine there. Solenoid for clutch cut out is disconnected but keeps the plunger in the control valve in (which should be cutout clutch inactive).
I think more on the lines that all forward clutches (friction material)is gone and it is metal to metal, but book does not even suggests that!!!
Please help from someone with real experience on this problem.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Wilson
