I'm trying to find photos or plans for a carriage house from the late 1800's such as you might find in city. I've lookded on the internet without much success. I plan on storing an RV inside, plus my tractor and implements and set up a wood shop.

I'd appreciate any leads to such a building source.

Thanks.

Try searching some of the library web sites in the Northeast. I have seen some beautiful carriage houses in both CT and MA, but have never photographed them. Look on the websites for photos to get some ideas.

Joe,

Here's someone that kinda specializes in carraige house plans. I don't know how close they are to the 1800's versions, but you could check with them.

We built one with 2 garage doors on the front that look like old carriage house doors, roof sloping to front & back, cupola on the top. Got my tractor on the left and pickup on the right, walkup storage to the cupola area and walkout workshop basement down below (think it's the only tornado-proof area we have) underneath the 2 garages above.

Got pics but haven't figured out how to post them here yet.

If you want pics, I'll try to learn. Can't be that tough.

Only mistake we made was not to put a "people" door entrance to the garage area. Should have put one to the right side, just beyond the corner.

Thanks for your assistance. This will be a start. I may have misstated myself when I said late 1800's. The date is not a important as the "look". I just mentioned the date since that is when they were at their heyday.

Thanks again for the quick response.

I'm never disappointed here.

I stumbled across this site the other day...I *thought* it was in a thread somewhere here but I can't find it now (brain cells aren't as reliable as they used to be /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). I did find the URL in the history for my browser though... Check out www.countrycarpenters.com. They sell buildings, but they have lots of pictures and plans. Might give you some ideas...
