Caroni tm1900 gear box burps

I recently bought a used tm1900 flail mower in great condition. It runs great with my Kubota L4600 and mows really well. Problem is that the gear oil keeps burping out of the vent cap. I bought a gearbox extension from British Metrics based on posts I read in this forum. It burps less now but hasn't stopped. Any ideas?

Change the oil to a synthetic to see it that helps
but it sounds like you have water in the gearbox.

I replaced the oil (as much as drained through the plug) and just did some mowing and it still does it although it seems less. You may be right though as the oil that is coming out the top seems "muddy". May e there's still some water in there.

I have that same mower, which I bought new, and it does the same thing.
It doesn’t bother me, but I routinely check fluid levels on everything I use, as it prevents catastrophe, and saves expense and downtime.
I really haven’t noticed any big need to add gear oil over the summer months. Definitely no muddy oil, do you store it outside?

Yes I store it outside when in use. Other than that issue, it cuts really nice and runs pretty quiet.

I just bought an extension for the cap on the gearbox from British Metrics that may help.

I put on the extension today and mowed for a few hours. No oil burps! I wonder why Caroni doesn't supply this on new units.
