John Deere 970TLB,
Good morning,
Looking at new tires on the front of my CUT TLB 4wd. The only tires I seam to find made in the USA are Carlisle brand ?? Wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them, quality, longevity, etc. Replacing a set of Titan tires that have lasted very well. Thanks for any input here,
Chris

Carlisle has been making tires for well over 100 years.

Recent generations of on-road ST trailer tires from Carlisle have mostly been terrible, so I didn't consider them when replacing a front tractor rib-tire recently. I went with Armour (China), based on the recommendation from a large local Ag dealer.

But, I can't say that I've heard anything bad (or good) about Carlisle Ag tires lately - I based my decision mostly on what I knew about ST tires.

I prefer to spend my money to support domestic production, but the quality has to be there.

Rgds, D.

I just replaced both sets of front tires(two tractors) with Carlisle,R1 Ag tires.Recommended by my tractor mechanic.Time will tell but they look good and made in the USA.

Why aren't you going back with Titans? I ran a lot of Carlisles with no gripes but not on tractors....small things.

That's a good question, replacing with another set of Titan tires was my first choice. I know they are a high quality product, the ones on my tractor have lasted more than 20 years. Local tire dealer quotes these Titans at almost $500 for a set of 2. The pattern ( R1 ) and load ratings on these Carlisle tractor tires are the same as the Titans. Only difference is that this set of 2 Carlisle replacement tires ship to my door for @$240 delivered. Had I been able to buy the replacement Titan tires for $300 or so, I sure would have ordered them, even at a little higher cost. I can almost buy 4 Carlisle tires for the cost of a set of Titan's. I ordered the set of Carlisle, just hope I don't regret not spending twice as much. Thanks for the comments,
Chris

Carlisle recently bought the molds for many small tractor tires from Titan. There are exactly zero new Titan R3 turf tires, for example other than NOS. Not sure about R4's.

I have Carlisle turf tires on my JD G100 lawn & garden tractor. Had this unit 13 years and no problems with the little tires. The tires show no noticeable wear but the tractor only weighs 675# and is only operated on lawns.

And I guess that's the big difference, my JD 970 TLB with the #80 loader and 8A backhoe mounted weigh in somewhere around 5000 with no load in the 6' bucket in front. Fairly sure working full bucket loads of gravel, the weight could go up 600 lbs. more with a full 14 cf. load of rock. It would be interesting to be able to weigh each axle on this rig to see exactly how much weight is on front and rear tires.
