Carburetor Overhaul-Ford 8N: How to tell which carburetor I have?

I want to overhaul the carburetor, but don't know how to tell which overhaul kit to purchase. I have a 1951 Ford 8N. From what I can read, the original carburetor was typically a Marvel-Schebler brand. I don't know if my carburetor is original or not. There also appears to be several different part numbers (i.e. TSX241A, TSX241B, TSX241C and Ford 8N9510C).

I would appreciate anyone who can help me clear up the confusion and select the right rebuild kit.

I'm positive the rebuild kits are the same for all the TSX's, when I did mine I was not aware there were different ones but I do remember the kit said for TSX 241A,B and C.

well.. they are not ALL the same for ALL tsx carbs.. but a carb kit that rebuilts a tsc 241 usually lists all the variants, and usually rebuilds the old 33 used on the 9n etc.

Tmac. you could helped us help you by posting a pic of your carb. Reason i say that is.. there are repop carbs that look like MS carbs. the early repops.. some of them did not rebuild with MS kits. almost all the later ones do.

then there are zenith carbs. those take their own kit.. etc.

check the carb. it may have a tag on it. or be otherwise stamped. post a pic.. that will help

I'd say that's a Marvel carb, wait for SG to pipe in.
Can't see it in the pic but there should be a casting on the bowl that says Marvel-Schebler.

deffinately looks ms. that lil oval spot near the hose is where you might find a stamping as to what it specifically is. in any case.. it should be rebuilt as a 241B using a master kit.
