I got one of these for free. Ran fine when i got it, then it rotted fuel lines from ethonol/sitting. I replace the lines and the carb is flodding, its spilling fuel out of carb and bogging down, only way to keep it running is switching from choke to half and back n forth as it idles up and down.

I rebuilt the carb and does the same thing.

Its a simple zama or whatever brand carb, just a diafram on one side and a nother set of gaskets onthe other and a needle on a spring. I put the new gaskets and diaphram in and needle. Still does the same thing. There is nothing to adjust!! Anythoughts???

I just had this one, maybe i have the diaphram in backwards i will reverse it?? But when i put the diaphram gasket in backwards on my weedeater when i just rebuilt it it would not run period, this will run, even up to wide open then it like bogs itself down and will stall. But can be restarted?

I genearlly am pretty good with this stuff but this one is a head scratcher to me. Its like the float is set to high, but there is no float!!!

Well if the new needle is sticking in the old seat i need to get a new carb as the seat is built into the carb body!!

I probably screwed up by buying a rebuild kit and not the carb. I think a new carb like this is $30ish. The kit was around $9 shipped to the house. I could not find the exact kit but ordered one that looked like it just had extra gaskets for a larger carb by same manufacturer. All the gaskets were identical and holes in same spot and the needle matched so i dont think its the kit that i bought. After looking for an hour or so at the kits there pretty much all the same parts with holes in different spots or more or less holes or larger ones etc.

Its doing the exact same thing it was with the old parts in it. So it has nothing to do with what i have done on the rebuild, thats what stumps me??? Again if its the seat the carb is trash.

Up compared to what?? When i take of the plate over the diaphram are you saying the little metal side needs to face the carb body? I think thats what you mean, and that is how i have it assembled. Its carb body, fiber gasket/spacer, then the rubber diaphram, with the metal side facing the carb body and just rubber facing up, then the cover plate that holds it all togeather.

I think i may have a hunk of junk down in the fuel inlet behind the needle not allowing the needle to seat all the way. I had a boat carb that i messed with for weeks and tore apart several times before i finially pulled the needle seat out again and found a paint chip behind it not letting the needle seat. Causing it to run rich and then flood if you backed of the gas to fast or if you turned motor off and let it sit it would flood the motor, causing excess smoke on start up. Im telling you i pulled hair out on that one.
