I need to replace my front 2 tires on my mf135 and have seen people that use a radial car tire instead of the ag tires. What size car tire would replace the 5.50 or 6.00-16 ag tires?

We did that, was brutal to steer with the loader on. Check TSC for front tires.

Good luck.

I would just get new regular ag tires for your MF135. From looking at the pictures of them they shouldn't be expensive. My guess would be <$80 apiece with a good tube.
EDIT: Although I have been known to replace a cracked and hardened implement tire or front end loader tire (the smaller steering wheels in the back) with a decent 25% tread truck tire. In those cases I used 265/75R16 load range "E" tires, for your case something in the 185/75 R16 range should work. Also I would get at least a load range "C" tire if you don't do any front end work/weighting: ie. FEL, front mount post hole pounder, suitcase weights, etc. If you do do front end work, get a load range"D" or better load range.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Any 16" car tire that is skinny enough will work. But without the rib, it will be harder to steer if weighted in the back. And being wider, it will be harder to steer if loaded heavy in the front. I second the notion to just get ag rib tires. They arent too expensive.

Can you just buy the inner tube for the tire or are the tires totally shot?

I used to use any 6:00- 16 used tire I could find . One came off of a late 1930s passenger car. One was a snow tire . They all worked ok, even using my front end loader. They can't be too wide, though, or they rub on the axle extension housing that contains the spindle. The problem with buying old used tires, however, is that they rot and leak and need replacement too often. I prefer the implement type smoother tread for the front tires, although the deep ribbed type also works, but leaves deep trenches in soft ground ( like my lawn). I bought my last deep ribbed front tire from a Goodyear dealer, although it had to be ordered a couple of days earlier. I have one of each on my Ferguson front end. I also broke down and bought new rear tires (12:4-28) and tubes , since replacing old rotten ones was a chore.

what is the tractor mainly used for? if it is any sort of "dirt work", going through mud, snow, ribbed tire would be advised. the rib's allow the front tire to bite in better to mud and allows the fronts to actual steer the tractor vs acting like skies.

if you have 4WD or MFWD keeping tire diameter ratios for front and rear is critical. so ya not tearing up the drive lines / tranny.

if tractor is mainly for mowing going with a turf / truck / car tire might help not tear up the front yard, when ya go into "sharp turns" vs a ribbed tire.

if the issue is just the hassle of not knowing were to find ribbed tires. and trying to see about using a truck or car tire. instead of wasting time finding a tire that would fit, just get a ribbed tire.
