Put a bounty on them $20 for a set of pig ears. Paid in cash.

I am surprised they have travelled that far north and continue to spread.

.

Some species (passenger pigeon for instance) were wiped out or nearly wiped out from market hunting in the early part of the 20th century. We could wipe out pigs if we wanted to. All it would take is money. Offer enough money and people would hunt them day and night. People would do anything for the right incentive. Offer a bounty, and you get bounty hunters.

A financial incentive helps. When they allowed hunting feel hogs by helicopter in Texas it boomed for a while but seems to have tapered off. Fun is not enough incentive.

No, not near enough. Think about the cost to operate a helicopter. It is huge. But if you could make it profitable, there would be PLENTY of people willing to do that. As well as many other methods. Like I said, it depends on how badly we want to eliminate the pigs. Just make the money enough, and I will drag my fat hiney out to start hunting them. :)

I would think they would be good to eat. Anyone know?

Lots of guys will shoot them for meat and some for “fun”. I know guys who travel hundreds of miles to shoot prairie dogs.

Some people eat them and say they can be good. (young ones not the old stinky boars). But they carry a lot of disease, and I am not too keen on eating them.

What if you could take in a pair of ears to the state conservation commision office and trade them for say $50 bucks.. I bet you would keep a little sharper eye peeled then huh? :)

Ar-15 30 round magazine could really run into some spending money with one sounder of them things.
