No, (of course I'm in USA). However in USA, its not typically hard to get at least 20% plus off the MSRP on the base tractor. So if Canada dealer pricing is similar, thats not really that great of a deal.

Wow 20%? Really. Might just be my area but no one here is offering that kind of discount.

those programs typically come along with extra $$ from Kubota to offer that level of discount. If you don't fall into the program criteria you can't get the extra discount, same goes for fleet, bid discounts, government, non-profit, etc.

Very true. In Canada the KED program requires you belong to you local provincial horse association. In Manitoba I belong to the Manitoba Horse Council, which is a member of Equine Canada. Annual membership costs $55/yr so the requirement is very easily met.

Since starting this thread and talking to both Kubota and John Deere dealers I have found both offer similar discount programs. It baffles my why the dealers dont promote these programs. In my situation I am a horse owner, looking for a new tractor, I've let the dealers know this, I'm shopping for the best deal but there was no mention of these programs from the dealers. I found the information and asked them to look into it. Their quotes have both dropped an additional $800-1,000 bucks so in my case a $55 membership has been well worth it.

I'm now left with choosing, will it be orange or green. I'm looking at both dealers 2320 models.

We were also looking at a brand new tractor and because we have always been JD people we were mostly looking at green ones. I like JD; they've been good to us, and although we looked around there wasn't really anyone in second place.

After several weeks of deciding between price and accessories...we wanted everything! - and just before we bought, we got a notice that an equine organization we belong to (AEEP) had just signed a 20% discount program with JD. That's serious dollars and we decided to do our homework by looking into it. It was disappointing for several reasons. One is that the discount programs were required to be discounted from MSRP...and frankly nobody ever pays MSRP on a tractor anymore than they would on a car or house. It's just a price to start bargaining and everyone knows that. And secondly the equine discount required a cash buy or outside financing, or standard JD financing so we wouldn't get the benefit of the special JD financing that they were offering at the time. That alone was worth more than 20%. There was another discount that the dealer was offering everyone....I forget what it was, but we couldn't have what ever it was PLUS the equine professionals discount....Long story short, the "20% Equine Discount" was no better than what the dealer was already doing for us...and maybe not as good.

On the other hand, looking into the program gained us enough time that we found that different JD dealers were willing to bargain against each other to a surprising degree in order to sell us a new tractor. Apparently that's all part of the game the dealers play among themselves and was friendly and open. In the end we decided that a few grand $$ didn't pay us to switch away from our local dealer.

The really crazy thing is that while all this was going on, the Kubota dealer got into the act and we ended up buying Orange. I still don't like the color, but the tractor sure has worked out well.
good luck, rScotty

So with some haggling, 80% of MSRP should be feasible? Curious b/c we are looking at buying a M5040 soon!

That's an interesting question. Maybe it has to do with how much both parties enjoy haggling. Personally, I like to load up a new vehicle or new tractor deal with "extras", implements, and options, and anything else that might come up. So the dealer and I just seem to naturally end up discussing the cost and value of such things. He knows I am going to protect his right to a fair profit, but he also knows that I think he lives much too well to begin with.

So when we were shopping for a new one it sort of seemed like somewhere around 20% off MSRP was where we often ended up for a rather complicated "loaded" deal on Kubota &/or JD. I think it was always better than 15%, but I'm darn sure I never got very far into the 20+% range. I'm not sure if a basic tractor without options and attachments would be more or less attractively discounted from MSRP. Maybe a dealer can comment.
thanks, rScotty

I qualify for the Equine Discount Program via John Deere......I have a quote for a JD 4520 with 400CX FEL and other options.....The discount is 18% and the 48 Month 0% financing is available.... Attachments are discounted by 10% per the quote....

Discount programs can not be layered.......I have not responded to the quote or asked my other JD dealer for a quote yet.....So I have not begun the "Dance of the Cranes" , i.e. haggling! And I may not bother for the nominal dollars to be saved.......

You really do have to be in the horse business....I am and what a fun way to lose your butt....Mostly cash going out:(

The Equine Progam covers all John Deere product lines, i.e the published discounts range from 15% to 23%. It is published and available in print at a John Deere Dealer.....

I am told you can do just as well, if not better, with other discount programs and shopping around........

To me time is money and the Equine Program makes sense if you are busy all the time.....
