My new 40da has the annoying parking brake beep my 35d did not have. Is there a way to get rid of it?

I stop mine by setting the parking brake whenever I park the tractor. :D The owners manual has the electrical diagrams, so it wouldn't be hard to see where to add a switch to squelch the beep. By the way, I ocassionally need to stand up when looking to see where the edge of the bucket is, my tractor gives me about 1 second then shuts down the engine. I would like to add a switch so I could suspend that function on ocassion.

Makes me glad that I have rather spartan tractors with not much more than a neutral safety start switch.. etc..

You've got that right, Soundguy. When I move from my DX55 to my old ford 850, I have to take a moment to think where I'm sitting. The 55 requires a whole new way of operating, like applying a knee to the seat in order to keep the tractor running if I stand up. setting the parking brake before jumping off for a second. Or cycling the inching pedal after getting back on and releasing the brakes before it will go into gear with the EHSS. The parking brake alarm wouldn't be so bad if the locking mechanism wasn't so awkward to use. It's my least favorite part of the new tractor. I honestly feel less safe on the new tractor with all the extra steps it takes to do simple things.

Yep.. same here. for my loader tractors, I use my 850 for hay moving mostly.. and it is situated exactly like my 660.. so no difference in thinking there.

The other 2 tractors I use the most are my ford 5000 and my Nh 7610s. ironically.. they operate 99.99987% the same. same trans.. same instrument cluster same break / throttle setup.. etc. The 7610s just has a bell or whistle or two over the 5000.. like a better charge system, and a key-off fuel stop solenoid. Otherwise i forget which one I'm driving..

There is a little little switch under the seat that detects if you sit on the tractor or not, once you stand up, tractor shuts down if parking brake isn't set and tractor is in neutral. Anyhow you can jam a piece of wood between the switch and the frame, so the tractor thinks you are sitting in it all the time, thus never shutting the tractor down if you stand up. My 2004 TC55DA hasn't got that beeper in there, but i am sure there's gotta be a way to disable that critter somehow. Not that I want to encurage anybody doing this tho...

through that hole in the middle goes that switch. press it down and jam a piece of wood in it. Done. tractor will run and run... ;)

I have a bigger problem with the seat switch on my TC45DA, when it's cold, like 10F or colder, the seat foam gets so stiff that I (at 220#) do not depress the seat enough to close the occupancy switch. The engine shuts down even though I'm sitting squarely in the seat.

The seat switch has 4 wires , the inner two control the engine shutdown, and the out two control the beep. I wired in an auxillary switch on the inner two, so that when it's that cold, I can close the switch and operate the tractor. The aux switch is under the seat on the right side where it's convenient to flip in cases where I need to lean over to see the bucket corners while operating. It still beeps to warn me, but at least it doesn't stop. You could easily put such a switch on the outer two wires to stop the beeping.

That fix sounds like the ticket. No effect on factory warranty??
