High I am looking for a new garden tractor for my place. I have a small yard (0.75 acre) and would like to be able to attach a snowblower for my 100ft driveway. The machine will also need to be able to pull a yard cart. Would the X300 work or do i need to jump up to something bigger?

Thanks-John

I would move up to a 5000 series atleast.:D

On the other hand a 100 series will work with a blower, carts, pull type spreader and the like. With 48" cut about $2500 for mower for a LA165, or you can go bigger if you want to and the X300 series will work with a blower.

Have you looked at the Deere.com site? All the information is there to see.

Thanks for the reply. Yes i've looked and done alot of reading. I get mixed signals because if i understand correctly the X300 is a lawn tractor and not a "garden" tractor meaning its not heavy duty enough to snow blow.

Does anyone have a x300 for feedback?

I've got the X300R. I used it this past summer to mow my horse pastures and they're just a bit over an acre.

It worked very well.

I believe the 300 series would certainly do the kind of work you have in mind for the size of the jobs.

I don't have the snow blower and can't speak to how well they perform. But, for mowing 3/4 of an acre and pulling a yard cart.. the 300 series will easily do that.

Depending upon how much snow you have in your area - you might even consider a smaller machine fitted with a blade. Given the amount of road and yard you have to maintain - a smaller tractor would likely fit the bill as well.

Best of luck.

Where do you live? How much snow do you get in a year? If you dont get much, I dont really think you would need the extra "ruggedness" that a GT would give you. You dont really need a GT for your mowing as you are only taking care of 3/4 of a ac.

I think you will be fine with that model in upstate new york. The blower that goes on that model is a 44in. two stage. My neighbor has one of them cheap 100 series from home depot and the blower on that thing surprises me on how much snow it will move.

As I understand it the 100 series also uses the 44" two stage blower. All the poster really needs is a 100 series mower, blower and a cart. I can not see why he would NEED anything bigger than this. I mow about 3 acres with a L130/48"deck/23hpKohler motor. I also pull a cart and spin spreader on occasion.

Now if you want a tractor to PLAY with then get at least a 3320 cab tractor with hvac and front loader ect ect.

FWIW, I like to PLAY with them, and it is harmless.:D:D

John,

You may want to speak with your local JD dealer about recommending a machine size for your area. Here in northern NY our local dealer has been very helpful is sizing machines to our needs and did not try to talk us into something larger than we needed.

If you have lots of cash then JD also makes cab model front deck mowers that take a snow blower as well.

Stay warm.
