I came across a Cub Cadet 1864 for sale and I'm interested, but I came up short trying to find additional information about this mower. The owner is the 2nd owner and doesn't know too much about it he has had it for 6-7 years. Mainly his wife has used it, and has kept up on the maintenance.

Specs I do know:

18.5HP Kohler
48" deck
45" snowblower
Hydraulic lift for the mower
Power Steering
-asking $2,300.00 but I'm sure I can get it down a few hundred.

Curious to know if anyone had any positive or negative information about this model.

Thanks

I have an 1862 not an 1864. It is my understanding that that only difference between the two models was the Kohler engine used. The 1864, if I understand it correctly, uses a V-twin engine, while the 1862 uses an opposed-twin cylinder. We love our little Cub. It is a great machine, approximately 12 or 13 years of flawless service so far. About 2 years ago I 'semi-retired' it to my office, it mows about 2 acres during the summers and snow-blows the freight dock area and employee areas in the winter. It is a very well built machine. If the 2 models are as similar as I believe they are, then you will probably have many years of trouble free service.

hello i have been working on these tractors for the last 8 years. yes the 1864 uses the kohler command v-twin engine. these tractors are great except for one weak spot. the mounting bolts for the rear end. they tend to come loose over the years and if not checked the break off. but is fixable. thats it they are a great tractor.

Thanks for the information. After I checked it over it seems like a well built machine. Turns out it has 600+ hours on it, starts, drives, and all the hydraulics seem to operate fine. Anyway he was able to let it go for 1,500.00 also got a snow blower out of the deal as well. Good thing too, we are suppose to get a fair amount of snow this weekend. The mower deck is in the corner of the garage.

another

ducatti996,

I noticed on a few threads back there was a topic on wheel weights and suitcase weights. during the posts i noticed in your first picture you had turf tires with chains on. And then later in another picture, same thread, you have Ag tires on. Do the Ag tires help give you more traction w/o the chains and turf tires?

I'm definitely going to have to get some suitcase weights, another 150-200lbs of extra weight in the rear would balance the Garden Trator better.

You planed this purchase perfectly just before this big storm (we got about 20" or so) it was a great day !! I have added a few things since the old pictures - I use the AG's now because I have a new driveway with pavers I do not want to ruin with my v-bar chains. I add as much weight as will fit on the machine (220 lbs suitcase, 88 lbs wheeel weights, and at least a 400 lb cab...I dont really have a traction issue..

However since I have turfs and chains setup on another set of rims, I would switch them if I felt I needed them. But I dont need them!! No doubt the best traction in any condition is turf tires and V-bar chains and weight....

How did she handle things today? do you have everything you need?

Between you and Duc, two fine looking Cubs.

That was a steal at $1500 with the blower, it looks like it has a three point also?
