Fired up the Honda WX 10 water pump for the first time in awhile. Worked great, BUT found out there was a hole in the hose. Not that I couldn't have used a cold shower given how hot out it was, but I'd prefer not to have to deal with that again.

Wondering if there's any way to repair such a hose? Replacements aren't cheap!

When I have to take a cold shower, progressively rubbing cold water over my arms, legs, head, and trunk greatly lessons the shock of going completely under the shower. I've seen people who swim in ice water use that trick. It took me years to figure out why.

Good luck patching the hose.

Shorten it if possible and put the end back on with a hose clamp.

Or buy just the hose and re-use the ends. You can buy that stuff by the foot.

Or, vinyl patches, but I wouldn't put much faith in that. I once bought very special sealant in a tube, to repair a water bed matress. It was expensive and hard, very hard in Canada, to find. But, it did stick.

Layflat coupler - size : 1.5 inch

You could cut the hose where the hole is and barb it back together with some hose clamps or banding. Won稚 roll up as nicely but you won稚 get wet.

I use a 3" Lay Flat hose on my trash pump. Fixed a pin hole leak with some type of vinyl patch. It has held now for twelve plus years. As I remember - it was vinyl patch material for an above ground vinyl swimming pool.

It's just a small patch - size of a quarter. I put the vinyl glue on the hose and on the patch. Let them dry the recommended time. Put it in my big 'ol wood vice and kept it squeezed tight for twenty four hours. If you look very close - it almost looks like the patch partly melted into the hose.

My 3" hose is 500 feet long. Wouldn't you know - the pin hole was almost exactly at the 250' mark. It took me a couple months to find the patch material. I was not about to cut/splice at the 250' mark.

Now that I understand that "lay flat hose" is the general description for this type of hose I do see there's a number of options out there.
Thanks much to all who replied for the education!

If the leak is near an end just cut and shorten it.

If nearer the middle, again cut and add a set of couplers thus making 2 shorter hoses.
FYI, look around as I know there are different grades of couplers with some plastic ones being fairly reasonable.
It is the aluminum ones that are costly.
