I have 2 Releif Valves out of a JD425 The Seals on top are leaking, I removed one of them and they are about the size of a top of a pencil eraser and the number is NTN 2X6X59 I have looked online and not found anything, I hope someone in this great forum can help,
Jon

Looks like a regular seal designation by metric size except for the 59. Are you sure there is no decimal point before the 59?
2x6x.59 would = .0787 ID x .236 OD x .023 thick. Does that look like it might be right?
NTN is a bearing manufacturer. I don't recall seeing a NTN seal, but they may make them. If it is just a plain seal, NAPA or other parts store can probably get it for you. Wouldn't have to be a NTN brand.

I checked again with a magnafing glass and theres no decimal there, but I had a thought that might be the size of the seal but not sure, I will try my local parts house I deal with and see if they can mat the dimesions up in a book, but thanks for the help, I am off to reseach some more, I am not giving $500 for 2 valve when its just seals leaking

That doesn't sound like proper seal dimensions, I have never seen anything 2mm externally on a valve. For seals; a photo is helpful to identify the type to start with.

NTN is a large company, like most bearing manufacturers it is likely they have a shaft seal division.

Heres some Pics, I called NTN and they said it was not theirs, OK then who made it with your stamping dies, but anyways, Look over the dirty finger and thumb, I took 2 different pics of the number one upside down and one the other way it could be 2 different numbers, but hope these help someone in helping me find one

jon,

That seal is just a wiper protecting the oring (or seal) under it....

if you grab the valve carefully where the backup/oring is pictured in the chuck of a lathe.....you'll be able to unscrew the cartridge valve and expose the seal that's leaking.......it'll be inside but you have to unscrew the assy.....

be carefull not to tighten the lathe chuck too much as it will squash the innerds of the valve.....this will hold on to it just enough......

polish the stem and housing where the oring rides (using the lathe), clean, lube and reinstall new oring (& backup if used).....

that seal shown if not buggered too bad can be reused....once again, it's not a pressure seal but rather a wiper to keep dirt/contaminates from getting in....that seal's lip should be facing out.....

also, DON'T try to use visegrips or vise or pliers to unscrew the cartridge....you just ruin it......you need the smooth grabbing power from lathe chuck.....
