Tractor Sizing Can JD 3320 handle 485 backhoe?

I have a 2006 JD 3320 with 300 hours and want to add the 485 backhoe. I'd like to be able to use a 24 inch bucket in clay with this setup mainly for removing stumps. I'm concerned the tractor may not be large enough since it is at the low end of the horsepower rating for the 485 hoe. Does anyone know how the 3320 performs with the 485 hoe? I am considering trading the 3320 for a 3720 but it has the same hydraulic rating as the 3320 so I'm not sure if this would help.

No difference with the 3720. Check the specs. I have the 485 BH on my 3320. See my post on "3320 pics". Actually I think the 485 fits the 3x20 series nicely but you can't use the 485 with a cab because of seat problems. The 485 is about 1500 lbs. and the 375 is about 1000 but the digging force is much greater with the 485. Get the thumb too or make your own. (It's pricey)

Also I have the large R4's in the wide position, I think it gives the hoe more room. I haven't really gotten to do a lot of digging with it yet. Wanted to get out today but things got backed up so it will have to wait for tomorrow.

Like I said in your other post (please do not double post the same questions

) you don't want a 24" bucket to dig out stumps, especially in clay. You want a narrow bucket to get under and break out roots.
