Hello, I currently have an old Ford 860 and a little riding mower. I want to sell both and buy a single tractor for both purposes. I live on 10 acres where I need to maintain and plow a 400ft driveway, brushhog parts of a field and occasionaly use a post digger and a rear dirt scoop.

I really like the size of the 2305 for mowing grass, but I am usure it can handle the tasks I am using my old 860 for.

Can anyone tell me if my 5ft brushholg, 6ft rear blade, F8 Danuser auger, and rear scoop can be used with the 2305(or maybe 2210 if I find a used one)?

Thanks in advance.

I think you might find a 6 ft rear blade a bit big for the 2305/2210 if you have much material/snow to move. A standard cat 1 auger might be a little tall for it too. As I understand it most are advise not to exceed a 48" bush hog. As for it's capabilities the 2210 I have is incredible and handles the 7 acres I have with ease. I run a five foot rear blade, a FEL, 48" tiller, a 25 gallon sprayer and a KK midddle buster/subsoiler all remarkably well. I have the 54" MMM and it will cut a foot of thick grass and spit it out without a wimper. If you want to use the standard cat 1 implements it's probably better to look at a something in one size larger frame tractor.

Welcome to TBN,
I think the 2305 will only handle a 4' bush hog unless your cutting just high grass.
You should look into the 2520 or a used 4110/4145 as the minimum for your needs. You can also get rid of that rear scoop and get a FEL (Front End Loader) for your dirt movind jobs.

Also, your PHD (Post Hole Digger) will not be a problem with the larger tractors as Ray mentioned

2520 isn't rated for a 5 foot rotary cutter, either. Doesn't mean it won't fit, but it isn't recommended by JD. I think that all the small frame tractors (2210, 2305, 2320 and 2520) are only going to fit his needs while finish mowing and leave him wanting more all the rest of the time. 3120 is about as small as I would go given the list of attachments and jobs posted.

The last time I looked the 2520 was not rated for any rotary cutter. I do plan to get a 5' one soon though. If I were not using my 2520 to primararily mow yards, I would have went with a 3120. I think it would do all the jobs that were listed very well. JC

Pretty sure that it was determined that was an error of omission on the website. The 2320 shows the LX-5, I'm pretty sure adding more horsepower is a good thing instead of a bad thing, right? Last time this came up one of the dealer members said the book shows the LX-5, whether the website does or not.

The 2305 would need a 4' brushhog, 5' would be pushing it. Blade would be OK as long as you don't get too aggressive with it. Auger depends on length. Ditch the rear scoop and get a FEL.

Bigger is fine, but it's not as nice for mowing (especially in tight areas).

Good luck with your decision!

Hi:

I got a 6' (72") rear blade for my 2305 last fall and did a fair amount
of grading with it. Occassionally if I had it angled It might want to push
the 2305 sideways a little if I was digging in. In low range it worked well.

For snow removal it was great. I used it in combination with a 47" blower on the front. For light snow I didn't even use the blower, just the blade.

For mowing the 2305 works great. I've got the 62" MMM and even with the new power flow bagging system on (which takes a lot of HP) I still mow flat out in high range (around 9mph) in fairly high grass. You won't slow it down mowing except for hills.

I am with Jeff. A 3000 series would be the way to go. It might be a little heavy for close in mowing. Mybe keeping the little mower would not be outta line.

As a 2210 owner I can say a 6 foot blade is definitely too big for the little guy. I traded my 6 foot blade for a 5 foot cause the rear end would just slide sideways on me. 100 lb rear wheel weights might cure it but is the 3 point up to the stress? no. I may have tweaked my 3 point slightly out of square with the 72" blade. I use something a bit bigger for 10 acres, esp with the feild work.
