Can anyone tell me the years of Manufacture?

This is John Deere A I am trying to get the serial number. Does anyone have a guess on the year of manufacture. Thanks John

It looks just like my grandfather's 1946 A. these tractors are often referred to as the "slant dash" models. There was no gap between the fuel tank and the steering pedestal. The electric start models had the battery in front of the steering wheel where the later Model A tractors (1947 and later referred to as the press frame) had the battery under the seat so there was a gap between the steering and fuel tank. The one you reference appeaers to have the optional Powrtrol for hydruaulic lift operation and I don't think that was made available to some years later.

There was a perfectly restored 1946 A at the John Deere Two Cylinder show in Waterloo Iowa a few years back. It brought some very nice memories of riding with my grandfather. In fact, the owner of the tractor started it for me and let me sit on it. I think I had tears in my eyes.

Cant help much but I can sure "guess".

I'll throw out 1943.

If you look at tractor data...they show THREE year ranges. It dont look anything like the early 1934-1938 ones
Looks like the 1939-1947 based on the way the seat looks to be mounted.
Looks like the seat changed in 1947-1952

But thats even if tractor data is accurate. Get the serial # and you will know for sure.
