I have an L4300DT with ag tires that i use for landscaping purposes. I do not have a loader on it and don't want one. But I need a little more power and have been thinking of going up a notch to a used MX5000DT-ag tires or even a new MX5100DT-ag tires. Maybe even an L4600DT but I don't think that model would be much different than my L4300DT. In specifications, the L4300 and MX5100, for example, aren't all that different. The engine is a little bigger and the tractor weighs 450 lbs more but the rear lift is the same.
Can anyone give me a real world comparison of an MX5000DT or MX5100DT to an L4300DT? Is the power to the ground a lot more significant or just a little more? Any other issues or thoughts on the two? Thanks in advance,

How are you landscaping without a loader?

I looked closely at the differences between a L4400 and a MX5100 and the differences that I saw were the larger tires, the wider stance, the heavier built front axle and the better FEL (more powerful). I would not make that jump just for the HP JMHO.

Separate tractor or contract a small dozer. This tractor is a do-all for dragging, seeding, tilling, etc,

Randall---That has crossed my mind which is why I ask. I don't need the loader but I like the physical size of the tractor since it trailers easily and fits in tighter spaces. The MX is really the only one in that category, I think, and the M series starts to get too big. I'm open for suggestions. I don't need a lot more HP, just enough to give a little more oopmh to pulling harrows and such .

It would be different depending on how your tractor is set up to the replacement. Over all you would feel the difference in the seat of your pants. The extra five horsepower and near identical mass to move would be a good plus.

Looks like the MX5100 would give ya that extra oomph. :)

I have the MX5100 and landscape with it too. I has done everything I have needed it to. I Mainly brush hog and I've cut 7-8 johnson grass easy.
