Can a 1957 Ford 860 pull a King Kutter 6' brush hog?

I'm considering buying a King Kutter 6ft brush mower. Will my 860 be powerful enough to pull it properly? TractorData.com gives the following for the HP of my engine. I've only recently acquired the tractor and have yet to pull any attachments.

I had a 5' International rotary cutter on my 841D. When the FEL was off the steering got quite light. Power was fine & probably could have used a 6' with the FEL or front weights. Use an overrunning clutch if you don't have a two stage clutch. MikeD74t

What's a FEL? This tractor has a live PTO, not sure if that's what you mean by a two stage clutch. It also has a loader (with a smaller manure bucket). I'm actually now considering an older John Deere 606 6'.

It should handle a 6 foot with no problem. I have a 5 foot Bush Hog brand and use it with a 35 hp Mahindra with no problem. Could easily use a 6 foot. Also FEL stands for front end loader.

Do you have gas or diesel engine? I had the diesel and it would run a 6 ft mower. I would assume the gas engine would perform about the same.

It's gas. Most people seem to think it should be okay.

I have an 850 that I run with a King Kutter 6'. It's the same tractor as yours with a single stage clutch rather than the 2 stage. It has plenty of power, but will tax the 3 pt lift a bit. Your FEL weight will help keep the front end down, but I used check chains to take the load off of the 3 point hitch. I connected one chain from each of the lower lift pins on the mower up to each side of the top link pin on the tractor. Set them to take the load when you lower the mower to your desired cutting height and your tractor will be happy.
