To all that have the 46 backhoe on their 2520 check your front tires for contact with the backhoe subframe bracket. Checked mine this weekend and the front tires are all torn up. I checked in the parts catalog and again JD has a new part number for the subframe bracket. I called the dealer on this one and had him add it to the DTECH I already had open for the 3PH.

Has anyone contacted JD about this, and if you did what was the result (outcome).

You didnt get many responses, but I want to thank you for this info. Can you say what the part numbers are, for a guy who hasnt ordered the hoe/subframe yet?

I got mine in December 2007, and so far, have not noticed any rubbing issues.

Here is what my brackets look like.

jimgerken, I don't have any pn's yet but will post them when I get them.

Runner you may have saved the day. The brackets I have are the same but they are installed the opposite way. I just looked in the Backhoe operator's manual and it shows the brackets installed the way I have them on my tractor, but we all know how accurate the JD manuals are. Runner can you turn your wheels all the way to the right or left and see if there is any contact between the tire and bracket.
I will flip my brackets and let everyone know what I find.

Runner,
Looking at your pic, the brackets on yours are mounted the same as mine. I also have not had an issue with tire rub.

rssnjr,

I have turned the wheels lock to lock before to check that, and have not seen the issue. This is not to say that there may not be some combination of wheel turn and front axle angle that might result in the condition.

I remember when I was doing research on this topic before I bought mine, there were posts indicating that the brackets used for the old 4xxx series machines (which also use the 46BH) were different than the ones for the 2520 and if you got the wrong ones, they caused problems.

There were also some complaints about the corners of the platform of the 46BH rubbing the rear tires, but mine has about 3/4 inch clearance (wheels set wide, of course).

There does seem to be a very slight amount of room for adjustment of the front brackets laterally on the loader mounts while still staying within the limits of the subframe tabs, so you might try playing with that a little.

I talked to my dealer yesterday and he confirmed that they had flipped the brackets around and now they clear the tires. I also am having them rebuild the left stabilizer because it was leaking. Thanks everyone.
