Public Auction Sale: Retirement/Estate Auction - Caddo Mills, Tx
I knew the old man who died ten or so years ago. He worked at the aircraft plant in Greenville but before that he was a rural blacksmith. His son who is now in his mid seventies has tales about the old man sharpening all the plows for the farmers using the hammer and forge. The old man was talented and extremely clever. After he died I was told it was all sold which broke my heart.
Well, it wasn't sold but it will be Saturday. I saw in the pics a Little Giant trip hammer, 25 pounder. Just before the old man died I went over to look at it because I heard it was for sale. He had it tuned where it worked like twenty five pounds on a mission and yet he cracked his pecans with it, that's tuned.
A lot of neat stuff for those still acquiring, I'm not into that anymore, don't want the kids having to have one of these auctions. I doubt if things will go cheap but some of that stuff never comes up in auction.
