Hi all, I'm starting the search for a cab for my 1070. I have already priced out a Sims from Cab Depot will put me back nearly 5k. Would like to find something more reasonable. I'd like to go hard sided with glass. I did some searching but couldn't find any Info on an OEM setup, did they make one for the 1070? Any other used options out there?

Secondly I'd also like to source the mid PTO kit as well. I've heard these are impossible to find. Thinking I may have to build one with the parts individually off the parts site. This again could get costly. Any other ideas? Thanks all for the help!

I doubt you will find anything cheaper in a hard cab, new that is. :(

So what about the stories I'm hearing about the build quality/install issues with the sims, should I worry about that? If I'm gonna spend the $$ I want to ensure it's worth it. Any others to consider?

The only ones I'm partly familiar with is the, Curtis, Jodal perry, and Sims. Those are the one that I look at for my 2305. I decided on the Jodal. If I recall the Curtis was the least expensive. Don't no if anyone of these company makes them for the 1070.

There was no factory option for a cab on this series. I am surprised even Sims has a cab to fit considering the age of your machine-the build dates where 1989 - 1998. possible eBay for a mid-PTO kit, but thats a longshot as well.

Before you spend this kind of money on your tractor, I think you need to seriously consider looking at a new(er) 3x20 series with a factory cab.

Thanks guys. So I just stumbled on this, it does look like there was a factory option but I highly doubt it's available. Not sure why i didn't see this before. I think Curtis made the factory units? http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/...&action=flip&irand=3269947318496741276#:1:3:3

As for trading up, not sure I want to. Mine has 377 hours on it. It's literally like new. When I got it (bought it with our house 2 years ago) there were 288 hours on it. It's a cream puff. So if I have to I can justify dropping 5k into the cab but if I can I'd like to go cheaper. I'll keep searching just thought I'd ask the experts ;). Thanks all!

As far as the cab, if you're handy and have the resources, building a cab might be your only option. You might find a used cab...or you might find a manufacturer willing to build one (if they still have the tooling). You might even be able to get their drawings if they cannot build the cab (if you can do the work)...can't hurt to ask.
As far as the mid-PTO...going to be very difficult, but do try eBay. Why do you want a mid-PTO?

Thanks Roy. Good advice and worth a shot. I'll do some more research and see what I can come up with. I'm fairly handy and building one is not out of the question, I was just going the easy route first....why build when you can buy....if its worth it :). As for the mid PTO, it's not really needed I just thought if I can option mine out to the hilt I would. Also wouldn't mind picking up a MMM for cutting my trails.

Good luck...even if you do find the mid-PTO gearbox or cobble one together, those implements (MMM, front blower, etc) aren't too common.
It's your money to spend, so good luck!

Thanks Roy, yeah I figured as much but it's worth a shot. After all, half the fun is in the build ;)
