Hello everyone,

I have a soft sided cab for my 755 and it certainly makes the job of blowing snow a lot nicer but I'm thinking I'd like a little extra heat. I get enough heat blowing back from the engine to keep the windows clear but after a while you still start to notice the cold.

I found a PDF on the web from a company that made a cab for the 8/955 tractors and according to the diagrams they provided there are two ports you tap into, one on the right hand side of the water pump and another on the front just below the thermostat. A quick check of jdparts it looks like the 755 may have a different pump, there appears to be a port on the right side, but none on the front.

Has anyone installed a heater and know where the two tap points are?

Thanks,

Jason

Typically you want to get the heat right after the coolant leaves the engine coolant pump.
You then want to return that heater coolant back into the system before the radiator.
On my tractor there was a bypass just after the pump, so I basically extended that line over to my heater.
As luck had it the bypass was 1/2" hose and my old school bus rear seat heater was also 1/2" so I needed very little flex heater hose as I used standard 1/2" copper for all my long and straight runs.

That 'school bus heater' is a carter heater readily available from most auto parts.
(mine came from a scrapped school bus)

Since my old heater was 6 volts, (did say old) I used a 12 volt computer type 'muffin fan' to blow the heat. Much more efficient and much lower current drain.

Good luck!

Another option would be to ask your local Autoparts store to look at their in stock heater Cores....alot of applications would be easily adaptible to a heater by just adding a fan.. They're designed to heat your car...so they should work equally slick in a Tractor Cab...

Thanks for your input guys.

Going electric isn't an option in my mind, the alternator is pretty small on these tractors and I don't want to overload it.

I have a couple old heater cores laying around so I may try to make up my own box. Doing that would allow me some flexibility in how I route the hot air since it would be nice to split it between the front and back windows.

Did a little more digging and found my answer. I went back to the site where I found the manual for the 855/955 to see if they made a cab for the 755 and sure enough they did.

The bottom of the doc shows you where to tap into the pump and the fittings you need to get the job done. Guess I better start measuring and dig those heater cores out of my junk pile.
