I was mowing the grass today and the mower engagement lever would not "spring back" automatically when I disengaged the mower. I took an air hose and tried blowing out around the lever under the lest fender in case there was a stick or something lodged there. It did not start spring back again.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on this?
Thanks

Does the mid PTO disengage? Will the lever stay up when in the disengaged position? Try checking all of the linkages under the tractor, you might pull off the wheel to help see what's going on. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Jeff,
Yes, the PTO would engage/disengage but I had to pull the lever manually. It would normally just spring back.

I read through my manual and found a pic of the area. There are two springs associated with the lever. I sprayed some PB blaster on the bottom of the lever and around where it went into the transmission case. I moved the lever back and forth and kept sprying mor blaster.

It finally freed up and returns on it's own now. I'm guessing over the years dust/grass just got in there. I have one more point to check when cleaning up now. Maybe this might help some others here to avoid the problem in the future.

Thanks for replying.
