Guys, I recently did the 50 service on my BX25 (Motor oil & filter and transmission oil & filter) and have since noticed that my FEL dump motion (curl down) seems slower than before. Also, it seems that during the whole range of travel from completely curled up to fully down the pump is making the same sound as if it were up against the stops. In other words if I were to stall the hydraulics the pump makes a different sound....I guess it switches to bypass, its that sound during the complete range when dumping.

Can someone try their BX to see if theirs makes this sound?

Is it possible that somehow air got up in the lines or ram. The kubota people say its very unlikely but what else could it be?

Some say that the hydraulic speed control for the 3pt hitch can cause this if it is almost closed, I have not adjusted this yet but could this be possible.

I have checked fluid levels several times and it is right to the top of the full mark. I have also disconnected all quick connects (3 on rear by BH & 4 up front by loader) and reconnected but still the same result.

Also, the Kubota mechanic asked me to check the to make sure that the power take off leaver is in neutral. Did that but still no difference.

The new fluid that Kubota gave me is UDT, is this different in any way that may cause this new problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

My first guess would be that one of the QD's on the loader are not seated all the way-even though they may look like it. Unhook all the loader hoses and re-connect them.
The system is self bleeding so any air introduced doing your service will purge.

Make sure your 3 pt lift control is centered. Sounds like it's in the lifting position.

It sounds like you're saying the problem only occurs when dumping, not curling. Since that function should theoretically be easier (since you have gravity to help), it doesn't strike me like a systemic problem such as entrained air, a mostly closed valve, a bad hydraulic pump, or anything like that. It sounds more like it's an issue with the joystick valve. To help narrow down the problem, I'd swap the curl and dump QD's at the joystick. That should cause the bucket to dump when you pull left and curl when you push right (assuming it's the opposite of that usually). If the problem is the valve, the dumping should now be normal, but the curling will be extra slow. If so, the problem is clearly with the valve.

A couple people on this forum have had a similar issue. In at least one case, I seem to remember the culprit was a loose screw inside the joystick assembly. As I remember the OP was able to find it and fix it with only some minor dissassembly to the joystick.

Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions, I will try that tomorrow. Do you know for sure if the 3pt hitch speed control will have any affect on the speed of other hydraulic functions. I dont think it does but I dont know for sure.

I'm not sure on your tractor, but I'm with you; it seems unlikely. On mine the 3PH, loader, and rear remotes are all mutually independent. The only way they'd affect each other is if I was actually engaging more than one of them at the same time.

Btw, my tractor also has a valve to shut off hydraulic flow to the FEL, and yours probably does too. In my case, it's located near the transmission/hydraulic oil filter, so it would be conceivable if yours is the same that that valve got mostly closed accidentally when you were servicing the tractor. However, that would affect the speed of all loader operations, not just the bucket dump function.
