I recently bought a BX1860 for mowing and small jobs around my 10 acre property. I didn't realize how capable these little tractors are. So I started thinking about trading up to the BX25. It's kinda funny that this all started with just needing to replace my ride mower.:D

I went down to my local dealer to see if they would be willing to do it, they said no problem. When we started to talk about price I realized that the difference between trading up to the BX25 and adding the BH90 to L3130 is only about $1000.

The size of the BX would be nice, but my soil is pretty hard and rocky. I think I would find more uses for the BH90. I'm in the beginning stages of building a shop so I could use it for the footings, I have some stumps to dig up, a retaining wall or two to build, trees to plant, and lots of water pipe to lay.

I think I want the BH90, but I would like to see what others think.

Thanks,
Gary T.

If I were in your shoes I would definitely go with the BH90. I think I would also think hard about adding a thumb (whether it be hydraulic or manual if hydraulic is too much). A manual thumb is better than no thumb at all. :D With a BH90 already on your mind, I think if you got the BX25 you probably wouldn't be able to get the BH90 out of the back of your mind.

Kubota don't make a BH90 tractor.

are you including the trade in of the 1860 in your pricing? are you talking used? looks like they dont make the l3130 any longer

Well, the BX1860 is a better mower, or at least as good as the heavier BX25 would be, and the BH90 is a lot more backhoe than you would be getting with the BX25. With backhoes you always want more power, and reach than you have, and I think you would be happier with the bigger hoe unless you have some confined places to work in.

shownuff,
I would trade in my new BX1860 on a BX25, or add a BH90 to the 3130 I already own.

Chuck and JayC,
I have been thinking the same thing, if I got the BX25 I would always be wishing I got the BH90. I think the BX is very capable, but when I want to dig up a stump or move a big rocks, it would be nice to have the bigger hoe.

I did quite a bit of work, and sure dug a bunch of rocks with the backhoe on my BX22, but I did always want a bit more with the backhoe, and something more smooth, and powerful at lower RPM. Reach, and the limited boom swing angle were things I wanted different too. Even now, when I think about getting a backhoe for my B2620, I kind of wish that the B3200 had been out when I bought it because the bigger, more capable hoe would be nicer.

You already have a big tractor and a small tractor. This gives you a wide range of abilities. I don't think having a medium and a large tractor will give you any greater versatility and range of abilities than you have right now. The $$ spent on the BH90 would, however, give your L series tractor much greater versatility.

IMHO, going with the BH90 is absolutely the right choice.

(Lee Brown, when I first read the thread title, I too wondered what the OP meant. I had to read his first post carefully to understand that he was choosing between spending $$ on either a trade-in for a bigger BX, or to spend the $$ on a bh for his L series tractor.)

Sorry for the confusion in the title guy's. I couldn't think of any other way to word it.
