BX25 Mid PTO Pump or BUST

I have used both PTO rpm before, and have used the 540 position when using the MMM. I never did pay attention to the rpm. I assumed it was running at the rpm it was supposed to.

Apparently there is a set of gears in there when using 748 rpm on the rear PTO, it makes the Mid PTO run at 2557 rpm, and when using 540 PTO, the MMM turns at 1847.

TractorData.com Kubota B9200 tractor information

The B8200 has three PTO's rear, mid, and front.

The rear and mid have two speeds, and the front only one.

J_J I am grasping in thin air here trying to understand your 2-Speeds PTO
deal.

What is it, at idle then at wide open or is there a PTO Tranny w/ a gear selector?

/ BX25 Mid PTO Pump or BUST #104
Yes, there is a gear selector. If you select the 540 rear PTO, then the mid turns at 1847 rpm, and when you select the high rear PTO of 748 rpm, the mid turns at 2557 rpm .

A little more versatility I suppose.

Gents in drawing a tank and in doing research I am running into 2 schools
of thought regarding the filtering. I drew in an in tank strainer, 2" w/ I
believe it was a 1.25" outlet and then I saw a a couple of guys say NO.
They suggest to eliminate the debris at the FILLER NECK instead of inside
the tank, as in stop the debris at the inlet, before it has chance to violate
your system, where you can see it and remove it.

I will have an inline paper filter between the tank and the pump inlet down
to 10 Microns as well.

So, I propose a strainer 40 x 40 on the filler neck then a 10 micron as well.

good, bad, ugly?

I am of the opinion that if you have a filler neck strainer, a return filter and possibly a pump inlet strainer you will be fine. I dont like filters on the pump inlet. Too much chance for them to get plugged and starve your pump.

You want to keep a hydrostatic transmission as clean as possible, so a good many of the systems have suction filters before the charge pump.

Our Power-Tracs, have been using the suction filters for over 25 years, and I don't know of a failed hydro transmission due to a clogged suction filter.

Sure the potential is there, but how likely is it, unless the tank fluid is really nasty. If the hyd system fails because of a clogged input filter, then the system already was having trouble.

A filter monitor with a gage or a no/go indicator should be sufficient, or even a warning horn.

You could do all three, suction, return, tank filter.

i agree with jj on this we always used suction strainers and even some that incorporate magnets

I didn't know you can fit 137' of magnum cable in a 2001?

My go to is a Spartan 300 with magnum cable.

I was the first to do it if I remember correctly. Yep, 10' of anchor, 5- 25'
long sections and a 2' leader in my 2001 machine. Fits well, spanks Groplitz machines all to heck.

I have been able to save many a sewer where others have failed. Then again,
so many guys always try to upsell to a replacement instantly and it is wrong.
Sure, if it is breeched by roots it "Should" be replaced but some folks do not
have that cash...

PS, I am temporarly sidelined HERE.\

Plus my Kneesells is back. Two right knee
surgeries over 10 years and 6 moths after the
last I am limpin' again. Need to slow down a tad
and hope it heals.

Now we don't have much choice... passed a new law that requires sewer inspection at sale and most fail... like 90% in my city because they are old... lots of companies getting into the business now...

Did a trench less last year to replace a 60 year orange-burg line... the original line was about 300' Had to be rooted about every 3-4 months or it was hopeless.

I was looking at a mid-pto pump one of the vendors was developing... can't seem to find it now.

Not sure if you are ref to us, we been having great fun with our Mid PTO pump for 4 years now. It works great, great flow at 2200RPM. 2 stage 22GPM.
Would recommend sizing up the pulley on the Pump to a 3 1/2".

Awesome!

Wheres the tank?

Does all that steel hold in heat?

Post up more pics! Very cool!

/ BX25 Mid PTO Pump or BUST #116
We can run this all day, hydraulic nice & cool. We had it chain drive before, which was creating some heat.
Tank is bolted to the top of the Rop, works for us, but not for everybody...

Yes... this is the setup I remember!!!

Two guys can run this setup, with the hyd lift in the back, Wood spliting & saw blade.
The wood goes away fast.
