Kubota BX24
Hi,

Tried to do a search for this answer, but getting PHP errors so I figured I would just ask.

What is the weight of the BX24 with FEL and BH attached? Kubota's site is claiming 1542, but I am not sure if that is simply the tractor or everything.

Also, I drive a Jeep Unlimited with a towing capacity of 3500 lbs. Say I have a 1500lb trailer and the BX24 is actually 1542 for a total of 3042 lbs. Would I be able to tow this tractor on a 16' trailer (if said trailer is 1500lbs) safely? (if it has electric brakes)

Thanks all!

Joe

I tow my BX2350 with FEL, MMM, and bagger with our Suburban and you can definitely tell it's back there. I suppose it depends on how far you're going, etc., but I'm not sure I'd push your Jeep -- many bad accidents occur due to over-burdened tow vehicles.

I have a BX2200 that weighs 1300 Lbs alone. The loader is 430 Lbs and I can't find my info on my Woods BH6000 right now but I'm sure it was around 700 Lbs. So that would make your package closer to 2500 Lbs. I'd say be real careful pulling that with your Jeep! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The BX24 Tractor weighs in at 1542 lbs.I did ask the dealer when I was there the other day.I has a more heavy duty frame than the BX2350 because of the BH.The BX24 BH weighs in at 617 lbs.,and I cannot find out what the FEL weighs.I'm guessing about 5-6 hundred lbs. It will be pushing about 2900 lbs or so. That's heavy for a small tractor.
My question is will the BH dig well in hard dirt? I;m thinking of getting a BX24 by the end of the year and was wondering.

Thanks for the replies all. Sounds like it would be too heavy to pull with the Jeep shy of using an unsafe lightweight trailer.

Donny, the backhoe does great! We used it this weekend in my "rock patch" to dig out rocks from the sizes of tennis balls to the size of lawn chairs. You just gotta keep in mind it isn't a piece of large equipment so sometimes you have to back out and try a different approach on the larger stuff.

Torrak,
I'm a tractor newbie/wannabe and the towing part of the whole equation interests me greatly. I just bought an aluminum trailer to maximize the towing load of my 5,000 lb limited truck. The trailer weighs 620 lb (6.5'x12' deck) and is rated for 3500 lb with the electric brake. A 16' would be about 1000 lbs. That would put you just over your limit, but aluminum is more expensive though cheaper than a new vehicle unless that's where you want to go.
