Is it normal for a BX24's (or any other tractor's) steering wheel to change positions while in operation? What I mean by this is that when I start using the tractor for the day, my steering wheel spinner may start in the 12 o'clock position while driving straight but within a few minutes of operation, the spinner will be in another position while drive straight.

I apologize if this is a serious newbie question but I just want to make sure nothing is wrong with my new tractor.

This is a characteristic of hydrostatic steering. There isn't the same gear relation in the steering as in your Truck or car.

Just for FYI if it bothers you you can straighten it for a while when profiling in the garage. When the tractor is off turn the wheel for a bit in the direction that you want to realign center. Restart and check position. Repeat as required.

After a while you get used to it, and the position of the wheel doesn't matter to you. Just steer in the direction you want to go.

On motor vehicles the stearing wheel is attached to the stearing box or rack and pinion with a solid shat, the reason beeing is if the engine should stall, or lost of hydrolic pressure you will still be able to control your vehicle. On a tractor the stearing is hydrolic only, the wheel is a rotational valve. If you blow a hose, you will loose all stearin capability.
Hope my answey will clear your question.
