Yes - I know - spring is in the air and another snow storm is on the way... but we are packing up to move to start moving to the new place here and I put the deck back on for transport (from it's stored state here)...
In addition to the good info here this is my trick to getting the tensioner back working...
I took a long strong screwdriver... placed the bend on the spring over the shaft... and put the tip of the screwdriver behind the hook arm that the spring attaches to... then I got angry and just pulled on the screwdriver until the spring slid down the shaft and onto the hook...
It was quite easy compared to other methods...
Just a post for everyone who will be getting their decks ready in the next few weeks...
