BX24 Hydraulic leak on backhoe BT601

On my BX24 the backhoe model#BT 601. The control valve is leaking and I think it is from one of the fittings. It is hard to tell which one since you need to operate the backhoe and look at the same time. So I tried tightening the fitting(s). The outside fitting was not leaking but was slightly loose. In order to reach the other fittings you need to sequentially remove the lines starting from the outside.
So I need to know what is in the fitting.
Is it just an o ring or are there any springs, balls etc
It this something I should attempt.
Since I will be taking lines apart should I replace the o rings, that is if there are o rings
The hydraulics seem to be moving a little slower than last year. I figure I will need to add some fluid. Do you check the fluid hot or cold
And lastly I understand one can check the hydraulic pressure and than add shims to get maximum pressure. Would you all recommend doing that at the same time.

Take some pictures of the fittings, and maybe someone can help.

You can check the hyd pressure either at the QD's with a plug in QD and hyd gage , or install a tee at the input to the FEL valve, and add a 3000 psi gage. There is a factory setting, and some people fudge that a little to get more lifting force.

For instance, a 2 in cyl, 1 in shaft, and 2500 psi = 7,854 lifting lbs. Boost the pressure to 2950 psi, and the lifting force goes up to 9268 lbs. Thing is, can the tractor withstand the increase load handling. Adding weight to the rear might help.
