BX24 Fuel Gauge -- Erratic Readings

The fuel gauge on my 2007 BX24 (110 hrs.) reads erratically. Most often it just pegs at empty, regardless of the fuel level. Once in a while it will comes back to life and reads correctly.

The plug to the instrument cluster is tight. I checked the WorkShop Manual -- it lists Ohm specs for the fuel sensor at full and empty , but it doesn't say where to take the readings. Any ideas? If it is the sensor, how hard is it to replace?

Did you check the plug on the sensor itself. Sounds like its loose.

What is the easiest way to see/access it?

I am not familiar with the sender but could be a bad ground? Can you get to it to run a temp ground?

I had some issues with my new bx1860 fuel gauge, the technician came and wanted to clean the contact of the sending unit. To do that he removed

1. tail lamp connections
2. dropped rops
3. removed all the rubber heads on the levers and removed couple of bolts from the back fender unit
4. lifted the shell and then accessed the sending unit, cleaned with sand paper and put all of them back
