Ok so I've got about 160hrs on this thing now and I notice that after the tractor is shut off and I start it back up the backhoe will swing back and forth unless I move the handle to build up pressure. Today I noticed that if I sit idle for a bit it will loose pressure. As far as I know it is still strong enough to not give me problems though when I am moving a bucket load.

Also if the thing sits overnight the backhoe will loose pressure and slowly lower the boom. Is this a related issue or is that normal?

Not quite sure what is going on with your backhoe but it sure isn't the normal other then dropping overnite.

One of the most common things we find with the hydraulics when quick disconnects are used is their failure.

i have noticed that my backhoe would be in a swinging motion as well after shutoff and running again. must be a common issue with these BX24 BH. it does seems to be annoying when driving over rough terrain. However i don't see the boom drooping at all. i just tend to use the locking pins whenever its not in use to prevent any issues in future.

Well that makes me feel better knowing that it happens to not just mine. I seriously thought that the hydro ram for that had some bad seals.

I've noticed that as well, but I just make sure the swing pin is in for traveling and then there are no worries.

I'm not sure what you by "Sit Idle". Machine Off? Or at engine Idle?

What I have noticed that on my BX 24, if it sits overnite (especially), that if any of the hydraulics droop, when I start it up it will have to build pressure (I ususally just hold it in a position until it moves). I have also noticed that until the hydraulics get warmed up, when I tip the FEL bucket down (when it is resting on the ground) it will actually push the FEL arm supports up as if I was raising the bucket. Once it warms up though, everything is just peachy.

It seems that the hydraulics don't have much power when the fluid is not warmed up. I guess that's why the owners manual says to let it idel for 5 minutes when it is cold.

Here is something that is funny. I never had the hydraulic droop until I read it on here. I think my tractor caught a virus from TBN.:D

it may be the packing inside the jacks piston leaking
