Does a BX23S have enough pto hp to power a Woods BS54S?

The only implement that comes up close to that number is a rear blade, and that doesn't use a PTO. What are you asking about?

The Kubota BX23S tractor is rated at 23 hp though the PTO horsepower will probably be three or so lower than that. That particular Woods snowblower is rated for tractors having 15 to 25 horsepower so if you have a category 1 three point hitch and a PTO you're probably in business. Product Details

AND - wherever you are - if conditions get really tough - just take less than a full blower width.

Sorry, should be SB54S. This is a 54” rearmount snowblower.

Would you even consider using a 48 inch 2 stage snow blower with wings?????? The thing is you have to remember that since you are looking at a hydrostatic drive/automatic transmission driven sub compact mule to power a snow blower like this you will be losing a lot of power due to the heat created by the transmissions operation.

So much of this depends on the weight of the snowpack and how long it takes to clear the area you need to clear the issue should be narrowed down to a smaller snow blower with wings that can use the full power band to create the torque needed to clear the snow and cast it as far away as possible at a slow speed to allow the impeller to work at the full 540 RPM speed and torque as the open augers on the snow blower will continue to force snow to the center of the snow blower as the snow blower advances forward into the snow pack and the snow will also pile up in front of the snow blower at the same time if the accumulation of snow is deep or has been frozen overnight.

I am not even sure a single stage MK Martin 48 inch single stage snow blower with the 16 inch solid auger would be manageable and provide enough power for a snow thrower of that size. The old Riest single stages with the 13 inch solid augers would have been a great match for the 23S.

Bentlvr, your tractor is at the low end of pto hp rating for that blower but unless you are in an area with a lot of wet heavy snow you should be fine. Especially where your tractor has HST so you can easily adjust your speed as needed by the snow conditions.

I ran a 48" rear snowblower on my BX2350 and it handled it just fine.
I'm now running a front 54" snowblower and it has no problems with it.

Zick, thanks for your comment. I found a slightly used Woods SB54S for $1700. I will post this winter after I have had a chance to use it.
