I removed the rear PTO cover on my BX2350 Kubota tractor to replace the gasket/seal that was leaking and the PTO Selector Shaft pulled out about 1/2" and won't slide back in.
The PTO selector lever will engage into the mid/rear & rear positions, but not in the mid-only position. When in the rear only position the shaft locks into gear, in the mid-rear position the shaft turns freely. I think it is an alignment problem, but haven't been able to get it realigned by moving it around, the shaft is stuck in one location and won't slide back in or out. How can I get the Selector Shaft back in far enough to reinstall the cover?

I contacted a Kubota dealer today about this problem and to get an estimate on the repair. The dealer says the transmission will need to be removed to access the front PTO cover and remove it to expose the front end of the PTO selector shaft, bearing, spacer, gears etc. in order to realign the shaft/parts and seat it in the front bearing housing. Cost estimate approx. $1000, for 9 to 10 hrs. labor. Does anyone know if all this is required to get this shaft back into position.
