Hi, all,
Curious whether others have encountered the problem I did today. PTO selector on my 2350 was set to Rear PTO, as I've been using a small rotary cutter to knock down a few acres of hay and weeds. With the rotary cutter unhooked and the mower deck installed I attempted to shift the lever to front PTO setting, and the lever wouldn't move.
After engaging and disengaging the rear PTO a few times and trying to move the lever between tries, I finally was able to move the lever immediately after disengaging the clutch--clashed the gears a tiny bit when doing this. Now the lever moves among the three positions with ease.
Can anyone tell me why the selector would "hang" that way? Is there a better way to make it release? I don't like to clash any gear, ever! I read somewhere that when his selector locked up an owner placed a bar through the yoke of the drive shaft on the rear PTO (engine NOT running) and pulled in the opposite direction of rotation. While holding the bar in the reverse direction he was able to move the selector easily. (??)
The manual is silent on this, as it is on many, many issues. Any help would be appreciated.
