I have a problem getting the mid mount mower links to lower to mount my mower deck. Took unit off last year and had zero issues. I heard mention of a "stowage" position you can put them in so they don't raise and lower while just using the 3pt. Has anyone heard of this? I see nothing on that in the manual, so I am lost. Grass growing every day.

Either way, the 3pt raises and lowere fine, but those mid links never budge. No noise, but no movement either.

The adjustment knob is in the driver's area...it's a twisting knob...an octogon shape on mine...with some numbers on it. In one of the positions, the label is not a number, but instead is simply "TOP". That position will not allow the MMM links to lower, but WILL allow the rear 3PH links to lower. You will need to be sure the 3PH links are all the way up for you to be able to rotate the knob out of "TOP"...the weight of the links makes the knob very difficult to turn, so you need to relieve that pressure.

If your position indicator is on a number (not TOP), and the links aren't lowering, just lower the 3PH links (since they also raise/lower the MMM links), reach under the machine, and give the MMM links a good jiggle. They should drop without much trouble.

If that doesn't fix you up, I'd say you have something else going on...

Remember that the 3pt and links lower by gravity, so you will most likely need to push the link arms at the rear of the tractor by hand (if the deck is not on). Also besides the mentioned height adjust knob, the other knob near it is a valve that sets the lowering rate. If it is tightened, it will shut off the flow and lock up the lowering cylinder. Turn it a turn or two opened to allow lowering.

Yep, Keith and Paul are both right. I've had my BX2200 for nearly 7 years. Every now and then I start to lower the deck and it won't go down. I have to think a few moments, then bap my forehead with my palm while thinking, "How did I forget that again?" Senior moments-they come more and more frequently these days. Downright scary.

Thanks for the help.

Got home and lowered the 3pt and then went after what was hanging up the mid links. Turns out that on the left side link, the arm was catching against the sissor side or the arm. Pulled out and down on the link, and it dropped like a champ. Mounted the mower, and it travels up and down perfectly under weight. Thanks to the replies, I had the confidence to get a little physical with it, but seems it was exactly what it needed to fix.

Got 45.3 hours now and my dealer will be by in the am to pick it up for service. I figure I will let them perform the 50 hour and make sure all is well.

Hi All,

Well I have the opposite issue with my BX-2350. I can't get the MMM to lock up? I can't turn the knob to the TOP position. When I the MMM off for the Winter I could turn the knob to the TOP position. Dealer had the tractor for some warrenty work and was supposed to fix it. Came back the same way. I am planning on checking all the adjustments on the MMM. Anyone have any suggestions?

However over all I love the tractor! It has made mowing a pleasure along with many other chores.

Thanks
Larry

Larry,

Do you have the deck fully raised when you try to turn the knob. Mine won't budge either when the mower is down, but have no problem when the mower deck is up.

I had a similar problem with my BX(previous tractor) and I had to spray lubricant where the shaft goes in to the transmission. Then I had to take vice-grips to loosen it up so it would twist. Water gets in there and cause rust and they become hard to turn.

Hi chuckr and pemad,

Thanks for the answers. I did have the mower deck raised all the way when I tried setting it to TOP. The knob turns freely until I get to the TOP position.

Pemad I did have problems even turning the knob when I first got the tractor in May of last year. Some oil freed it up but still could not get it into the TOP position. I did notice that when I had removed the mower deck for the Winter it freely would turn into the TOP position. I am guessing when the dealer assembled the tractor they didn't adjust the mower correctly. If it ever warms up here I will go through the mower adjustments.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi All,

My dealer picked up my tractor this afternoon. I will be interested to find out what the problem was in keeping the deck locked up.
It was just to miserable here this weekend to do much with it outside. Thanks for all the suggestions.
