Last week, I forgot to release my parking brake. The hydro was whining and the tractor accelerated slowly while I was mowing. I only ran with the brake engaged for about a minute, but it was enough that I could hear it on the engine and hydro.
Yesterday, I was working on taking down a tree. It's a heck of a slope and I found I couldn't get the brake to hold on the hill. I ended up having to lock the brake, drop the edge of the bucket hard into the dirt and just for good measure, set my 3ph weight bar on ground to drag.
So do I need to just start doing leg presses to be able to push on the brake harder? Or should I try to shorten the rods a turn or 2 on the brake? Or am I asking too much from the brake to hold the whole tractor on a 20+ degree slope?
