Sorry if this has been discussed before, but my search hasn't revealed an answer...

I'm wondering which oil filter is currently reccomended for the BX2230, 15853-32430 or 70000-74034. The Kubota website lists the first, however other sellers on the Internet of filters list both, and the second is about 50 cents more.

Has anyone ventured into third-party filters (NAPA, Wix)?

Also, is anyone using something other than Kubota motor oil?

Thanks!!

I just had the 50 hour service completed on my BX23 and the dealership used a 70000-15241 oil filter and a K2561-36990 hyd. fluid filter. They used some 15w-40 Case motor oil and replaced the hydraulic fluid with "Case BB17704 Hytran Blue". When I change the engine oil, I use Chevron Delo 400 15w-40 (one can buy it at Costco in this neck of the woods).

Again, this is on a BX23 that apparently has "the older" diesel that uses the screw-in block heater (1" threaded plug on right side of block...thanks Junkman). Maybe this info will help you despite my different model designation.

One filter you state is the OEM and one is the non-oem. Same filter just I THINK one is longer or larger OD.

This topic has been up a few times. Use the search and see what you find.

I use Amsoil filter just to try but going to Baldwin next.

Used Amsoil 15w-40 year round but now trying their best oil they have (Series 3000 5w-30). Only about 35 hours using it so far. Will test and post the results to compare both oils;for FYI.

The 15853 filter was the original filter for the BX, it is slightly smaller. I liked it because it was easier to remove (my cap wrench worked on it.) I can not find that filter now, so I have used the 7000 filter for the past 2-3 years.

I just did 50 hr service on my bx1500. I used Rotella T 10W-30. I also put it in my JD820, switching from the JD 15W-40 oil, just for convenience.

I did use the Kubota filters, which are pricey. I noted the JD oil filter for the JD820, which was about 4 times the size of the Kubota filter, was $2.47, about 1/3 the cost of the Kubota filter. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Upon dealer delivery every new Kubota BX2230 is fitted with 15853-32430. 70000-74034 is the replacement for 70000-15241 which was intended to be the economy filter option for 15853-32430 but now is more expensive than the original.

Hello...I've been reading these posts and taking all the valuable advice I can use.

This time I may be able to help a little.

I was at my dealer this past weekend and mentioned about the "economy" filter, looking at my year, make, and model (2006 BX24) on the computer the service tech didn't like what he was hearing.

He offered further information that between BX models and years there are a couple filters that can be right for the BX series. For my machine it is the:
15853-3243-0 another number on this filter is HH150-32430...one of these is the new number and one the old number. Anyway a cross check came up with the WIX 51358 being a valid filter to replace the original Kubota part.

Summary:

Kubota oil filter 15853-3243-0 also known as HH150-32430 can be interchanged with a WIX 51358.

Since we are going by the actual filter numbers they would interchange on any tractor using one of them.

I supplied the facts and numbers as I have seen them, please correct me if I have spoken on anything...last thing I want to do is hurt the credibility of the members of this forum.

Back...

Just spent a couple hours online and got these cross references:

Kubota --> 15853-3243-0 (# as it is on filter)
Kubota --> HH150-32430 (# as it is on filter/box)
Wix --> 51358
Fleetguard --> LF3925
Baldwin --> B7285
Jacobsen --> 1585332430 (yes this one is very interesting :rolleyes: )
NAPA Gold --> FIL 1358
NAPA Power Sport --> PFI 1358
NAPA ProSelect --> SFI 21358

This should be a good place to start on third vendor oil filters that cross reference to each other. Please verify these on your own to be comfortable that you will have the correct filter. Since they all xref'd to the WIX 51358 on Amsoil's site (except the 1585332430 Jacobsen (threw and error, don't know why)) seems they are legit.

The 15853 filter is the japaneese filter thats installed at the factory. The 70000- filters are the domesticly supplied equilivant.
