Question for the BX owners. The manual states the hydrsulic lever will automatically return to the neutral position after it is fully lowered or raised. Mine makes an odd sound once it fully up but it doesn't jump back to the neutral position. Does it just take awhile for that to happen? Same thing when I lower the mower, it doesn't jump back to the neutral quickly either.

Does it jump back to neutral and how long should it take.

Not an uncommon problem. the strange sound is the pump loaded up. Do not leave it in that mode for long, you can overheat the hydraulic fluid.

You need to adjust the levers that center the handle. The owners manual I believe shows the proceedure to adjust them. Also in the down direction it will only center if the mechanism can go fully down. If you are using a mower deck and the height knob is anything but zero, it will not center. Not centering in the down direction causes no problems and the lever can remain in the down position indefinitely.

Counldn't fiond anything in the manual so I'm looking at the service manual now. I hope its something I can do at home and not have to trailer to the dealer for that.

The lever on my bx1500 returns about halfway to neutral, but the lift arms seem to be working properly. I figured it needed adjustment, but there are too many fish to catch right now to worry about it.

I can't find anything in the owner's manual about adjusting the lever either. If you find something in the service manual, maybe you could post a brief summary of the adjustment procedure?

I also noticed that when lifting the 3ph there is a sound coming from the hydraulics - kind of a grinding whine, but not anything that sounds especially problematic to me.

According to the owner's manual, this means "the hydraulic mechanism is not adjusted properly. Unless corrected the unit will be damaged. Contact your Kubota dealer for adjustment." I would have thought the dealer would have checked that as part of setup. So, does the 3ph operate silently, or at what point does noise from raising the 3ph indicate maladjustment? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

On my Bx2200 the 3PH lever usually does return to center when the hitch reaches either the top or bottom limit, but I don't think it does all the time.

I try to pay attention just to make sure. I am sure it can be adjusted to do the return to center thing all the time without fail. I guess my lazy side kicked in...I pay attention and don't worry about it... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Before I mounted & adj the 60" MMM, my lever would return to neutral when both lifting & lowering. Once I mounted the MMM the lever ceased to return on it's own from either position.
1st time I noticed this was when I raised the MMM and started to use the FEL and it wouldn't work! Just as I was begining to think that I had some serious hydraulic problems I noticed the lever was still in the raised position and the HST was making a loud stressful sound. When I manually returned the lever to neutral my FEL miraculously began working again and the noise was gone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can see where the MMM height adjuster can effect the lever from returning to neutral when lowering but don't quite see how it effects it when raising.....
But anyways and IMHO, I'd say the MMM has something to do with it's operation.

I can tell You from experience, if You cannot adjust this out with the rod adjustment that the Hydraulic control lever valve assembly is about $400.00 plus labor and if You have gone past the two year warranty, You will have to call Kubota on this ,as the Dealer I bought mine from refused to warranty it until I called Kubota.

Then the BX2200 sat there for six weeks as they claimed they did not have one of the valves in the United States, it had to come from Japan. , According to the District parts Manager at Suwanee,Georgia, it was caused by the way the Dealer ordered the valve assembly.

In short if You can't adjust the rod to take care of this , Take it back to the Dealer before the two year part of the warranty runs out! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Matthew, you didn't say at what engine rpm this happens, at idle while rasing, mine will not return to center, but as soon as I increase the rpm's which raises the hyd pressure, the lever returns to center after lifting, mine does not return to center after lowering but I never tryed it without an attachment on?

Is the adjustment done using the lower limit adjustment?

There is an illustration on page 26 in my owners manual for the BX1500/1800/2200. This page is in the Hydraulic unit section in case the manual pages don't agree for the 2230's.

There is no description on adjusting this but it may be the location.

I was running at about 2800 rpm mowing. The service manual doesn't mention it specifically, so another adjustment must take care of this.
