BX2230 big enough?

So i have found a helluva deal on a bx2230 with a FEL, bush hog, tiller, post hole digger, box blade, and broadcaster(the only thing i would need extra is a finishing mower) for 10K. that sounds like a GREAT price, the tractor just looks tiny...like it might shouldn't even be called a tractor. I have 5 acres of flat pasture land with shredding/finishing mowing, short drive-way duties, light fence building, garden work etc. to do. Would this be enough tractor for me? I also found a L3400 w/ FEL and bush hog for 12.8K, which i like the size of more, but with the extra implement needs, will put me around 15k, which isn't completely out of reach. I am new to the tractor game(driven them all my life, just never owned one), so please help me out. Thanks a ton

Any of these sub-compact tractors --the BX Kubotas, M-F GC series, etc.-- are all very capable, even surprisingly so. If speed and heavy work is not in your future tractor duties, I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Kubota SCUT --of course, I prefer my M-F because it's red....

They can mow like a champ, tend to live very long lives (compared to a garden tractor mower) and can do many other things that you won't think of until you've got it. That price sounds good, too! If it's been taken care of --serviced well-- I'd go for it! You might have it checked out by someone, just to make sure it's not too good to be true....

I have a bit over 4 acres, not a lot of flat ground, however, and my SCUT seems to be just right (so far!).

10K sounds a bit too low for all that in decent shape. But if it all checks out you could buy it, try it, and if it's not to your liking easily sell it and get your money back. These machines will do more than you expect of them but the best way to know is to use one. Good luck. Hope it all works out for you.

Be careful of a scam on the BX2230. If a valid sale and the tractor/implements are in good shape it would be hard to pass up.

The BX is a bit small as you noted but can handle 5 acres. It will be slow going at times for some of the jobs you list. The size of the implements is a factor as well.

I had a L3650 along with the BX2200 for several years and they are tractors from different planets. The L3400 is what might be called a "real" tractor for doing heavier work. As noted on this site several times, no one complains about their tractor having too much power.

If you question yourself on which one to buy it probably would be adviseable to go larger. Then there will be no regrets. Since you have experience with tractors it may be best to sit on each, run them around, and let the seat of your pants make the decision.

I have a BX24 and it does get the job done. If you give it the time it nees to do the job. Dont expect to pull a stup out in 5 or 10 minutes but give it 30-45 minutes to dig it out and it works just fine.

the guys says that the tractor has about 150hrs on it and all of the implements work with no problem.

The problem with that is, I am over-seas, and i need to get a tractor before i come home in Feb so that if i have to finance some of it, the wife and i will both have jobs when we finance it so that we will get a better rate.

If you cannot personally lay eyes on this machine or any other machine, do you have a trusted "purchaser" working for you?

Sight unseen is filled with potholes for sure.
