My faithful BX 2200 died yesterday while my son was mowing. It wants to start (turns nicely) when you turn the key to start, but as soon as the key is released, it dies. The BX is 4 years old, with 300 hours. All the scheduled maintenance was kept up to date. (Let is sit for over 24 hours, and it still failed, so I do not think it is a over heating problem).
One theory: water in the fuel? Per my maintenance schedule, the fuel filters are to be replaced at 500 hours. But, a few years ago, my dealer recommended that I keep two (has dual in lines) on hand. They said that water in the fuel is common, and I should keep spares on hand. Questions: Does the symptoms sound like it could be water in the fuel? If so, does the tank have to be (or should be) drained, or will just changing the filters suffice?
Any other theories on what it might be?
Thanks in advance.
