Another few things I forgot to mention.
You will probably wind up using the loader a lot more than you are thinking right now. Aside from digging and plowing, I use it quite a bit for carrying and lifting 'stuff'. Like I got my son a 300 pound Olympic barbells set, that was one easy trip for all the weights from the truck to the basement bulkhead. Use it for carrying firewood, digging/aerating compost heap, etc. etc. you name it. Had a big crate for a grandfather clock to haul to the dump, used the loader (with tiedown straps around the load) to move it to my truck. These are not '
BX2200' issues per se but the FEL will be very useful.
Consider the optional brush guard (grille guard) for the
BX2200 since you are buying the FEL. Much cheaper than replacing the grille. I used the grille guard to hook on a tow strap and yanked bushes out of the ground -- probably not a recomended use of the guard but does seem to work just fine. The front of the
BX2200 does not have a place to attach a tow hook which would be nice, but the grille guard does the job.
Get a weight box for it if you buy the FEL, the
BX2200 needs to be counterbalanced. Mine attaches to the 3 point hitch, that is about 2' square and fairly deep. Fill it with bags of cement or sand when it needs to be really heavy. Otherwise, use it like the trunk of a car to put tools etc. in. Some people use a 3 pt attachment as a counterweight. I like the weight box because it is much narrower than the wheelbase of the tractor and lifts high so does not get in the way.
You might want to consider 2 sets of wheels: one with turf tires, one with bar tires. Takes less than 1/2 hour to change wheels. I was going to go with straight bar tires but like you it will be mostly mowing during the summer, so turf tires are a lot easier on your lawn (and rides more stable with turfs). Whereas the bar tars are better for snow and serious loader work. A set of tire chains was $110-125 whereas a whole set of new wheels & bar tires cost me $265. And you don't need tire chains with the bar tires. I was going to get chains, but remember my old tractor I would slip a chain 'somewhere' while plowing and notice it when the wheel started spinning. Then have to look for the chain (somewhere stuck in a snow bank) and reattach it.
