Hi All,
I have a bx2200 4x4 FEL. I use it often. Several times a year I have water in the fuel. I know this from the white smoke in the exhuast as I try to start it. To get going, I pull the fuel filler closets to the engine, turn the key to cycle the fuel pump, and purge the water.

My question is, Is this a common problem with the 2200? I know about the sending unit on the left hand side of the fuel tank puking fuel. But does also let water in?

I just fabed up a fuel water separater, but this isn't the real fix. Just a bandaid for longer intervals between fuel purges.

Yep, if the fuel is leaking out then the water is leaking in that fuel gauge sender gasket. There have been several fixes for that gasket. I'm on my third revision. If you power wash the tractor then it is almost a guarantee that water will get into the fuel through that gasket.

Some dealers will replace it for a reduced labor rate if it is out of warranty.

The latest gasket is cheap but the amount of labor involved is quite a bit. You can change the gasket yourself but have to take off the roll bar, seat, and fender(s).

When you put the fuel gauge back in make sure it doesn't hang up on the side of the tank. You will only get a reading of 3/8 tank even when full and it will become annoying enough to want to take everything apart again. Gee - wonder how I know that.

Water in fuel could be coming from the main tank you store it in as well as the container that it might be transported in.

We see it quite a bit and with the new fuels we believe the problems are only going to increase.

When at a fuel station, gas station or what ever you may want to call it, if they are filling their tanks wait a couple of hours for the tanks to settle down before you purchase.

Don't hesitate to add an additive at the pump!

You could have a leak at the fuel sending unit but we haven't seen any problems from it not to say that they couldn't be getting started.

I haven稚 noticed any water in fuel problem with my BX2000 but the gasket could be the problem if your tractor is stored outside. To guard against water from fuel storage, I use a Mr. Funnel to filter dirt and water when I fill the tank. I租 be interested to know when and how you fix the problem..

Sounds like you should have a Racor fuel filter with the fuel heater option

The Racor diesel fuel units (model 1100 is the smallest-I think) use a centrifigal fuel flow to spin out the dirt to 5 micron or less and the clear drain bowl has a manually operated drain to remive water and dirt.

We used them on our mining machinery for years and they performed flawlessly-except when there was so much crap it totally plugged the paper filter-you know it was doing its job then for sure.

worth the money and time to install as prefilter from the tank to the engine for sure as you can see the water and drain it out everyday.
