BX2200
Ok, I'm new here. I have a new BX2200 with 72 hours. This weekend as I was tilling tree rows my speed control pedal started becoming sticky. Having read the posts on this common problem with the BX, I have religiously kept the pedal pivot greased. Well, thinking that the dusty conditions could have caused the problem; I disconnected the lever and piston from the pedal below the foot platform. The pedal moves freely and the bushing is well greased. I pumped in extra just to be sure until it squeezed out fresh on both ends of the bushing. Next, I disconnected the spring and replaced the connecting rod. At this point the shock absorbing piston and the spring are disconnected. I can tell that the resistance is in the movement of either the control shaft external to the transmission that moves the swash plate or it is internal to the transmission. I sprayed the external shaft liberally with WD40 hoping that might solve the problem. No joy. Anyone have any ideas (other than I'll probably call the dealer tomorrow).

How free is your pedal really? It should flop back and forth freely with no resistance when the linkage is disconnected otherwise it will create some drag and stick.

The pedal freely flops back and forth. The ball joint at the end of the connecting rod is also completely free moving. With the damping piston and the spring disconnected, I connected the pedal and connecting rod only to provide enough leverage to rotate the shaft that controls the swash plate. The resistance is too great to rotate the shaft without leverage. The resistance is smooth and it feels like I am pumping fluid when the shaft into the transmission housing is rotated. In fact, rotating the shaft back and forth will cause the cooling fan for the transmission case to move slightly which I assume is a response to pumping. I notice that there is a plate with a curved slot on the shaft that allows an adjustment. The bolt in this slot is all the way to the top rear position in the slot. Looking closely, I don't see any marks on the slot that would indicate any shift from its original setting. I am curious what the purpose for this adjustment would be.

Mine is doing the exact same thing, I've greased it religiously, it is very slow to return to center. I have not looked for the problem more closely yet though..

I've got about the same hours, just started doing this.

I called my dealer and talked with a mechanic. He thought there could be a little rust by the seals where the shaft goes into the tractor housing due to pressure washing in the shop prior to delivery or later washing. I will try working it over with WD-40.
Some amount of resistance in the rotation of the shaft is normal and correct due to the movement of the swash plate.
I forgot to ask about the curved slot for adjustment. I'll try to remember when I contact him again.

instead of wd 40 you might try Break Free. its awesome stuff.

I have come across this too. I simply sprayed down all the moving linkages, and kept moving them back and forth by hand until things started to move freely again. The slot your talking about I believe is the nuetral adjustment fot eh HST. If it is up in the air in the rear, and you loosen that jam nut, and rotate that bracket, you will find it moves the tires forward or backward. You simply do this until the tires do not move at all, and it sets your nuetral on the HST oil flow.

I was out of town for a few days. Using the tractor today, the pedal has improved, but not completely fixed. I sprayed with Breakfree. I'll see if that does the job.

Hey OOMBALA,
I've been using CLP Breakfree for the last 22 years. I use it on everything from firearms to engines. I know the government also uses it in the military branches. You are correct, it is Awesome stuff!
