Folks,
I used the BX2200 to move a sleeper sofa from the house to the garage yesterday. I usually stop the tractor while it is in the High range. Then when I go to restart I have to select the neutral position. But on Sunday it would start w/o being in neutral.
I will trouble shoot it some time this weekend. What should I be looking for? A loose connection?

Thanks,
Phil

I would say the switch that controls that is either gone bad, has something holding it in (i.e. mud, stick etc.) or the switch has moved such that the lever is still maintaining it while in range.

Of course I have not had this problem, so I am just speculating what makes sense to me.

Good luck,

On my BX2200, before I traded it, I had actually disconnected the switch. If I remember the connector for the switch was under the seat. If you follow the lever under the fender to the switch you can follow the wires to the connector. I had a problem where the tractor wouldn't start. I jumped the switch and the tractor began to start. I know that this is a "safety" switch, but sometimes I think that tractor makers have gone overboard. On my BX22, I think the seat pressure switch is going to be the first one to go, when I have the time.

Not sure if the BX is like my B-7500, but I only have two saftey switches one activated by depressing the clutch the other the PTO must be in neutral. I recently had a problem with a non-start it turned out that the HST pedal's piston rod was depressed just worked the pedal a little and no problems since, I asked the advice on the board and many were surprised the range lever did not have to be in neutral. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I find your comment about the BX22 seat pressure switch interesting. I don't have a seat pressure switch on my BX22 and it was manufactured in September 2003.

on my 1998 B2400 the range selector must be in netural for it to start

Phil,

There's a safety switch where the hydro drive selector goes under the tractor housing. Yours has shifted slightly, and you need to adjust it (assuming that it's not bad).

I wonder if the range selector has to be in neutral on the B7800? I think the B7800 has the seat interlock switch...maybe it also has a range selector position interlock too? Seems like we can't have too many interlocks these days. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think the range position interlock is on the BX series because there is no clutch for the operator to push, like there is on the B series.

Junkman,
Mine definately has a pressure safety switch in the seat. If the tractor is in gear, and you try and leave the seat it shuts the tractor off. I had it shut off moving around in the seat while snowblowing. If you select neutral before you get off the tractor it will remain running, unless you also have the pto engaged, which will cause the same problem.

I really wanted it disconnected when I sheared a pin in the blower. I was using it and I felt like the left side was only pushing, but there was still snow coming out of the blower. I wanted to get off with the blower running so I could see if it was turning or not. I guess Kubota must have been bit by a lawsuit for someone trying to clear a clogged chute.
