I recently ordered 2 new Gladiator 6-ply rear tires for my BX2200. The old tires (Titan 4-ply) were dry rotted...one was fluid filled with a leaky repair plug in it...one was not filled but was leaking through a crack.

Long story short, the new Gladiator tires were puchased for $68 each from amazon (Amazon.com : Gladiator Multi Track C/S Lawn & Garden Tire - 26x12.-12 4Ply : Patio, Lawn & Garden bad in my opinion for the price.

I changed out one of the tires on Saturday. I was able to get the old tire off, a new valve stem installed, and the new tire on without much effort by hand. However, I could not get the tire to bead...tried multiple times with starting fluid (it beaded 2-3 times, but quickly unbeaded before I could get air in it). Took it to a shop and they filled it with air.

Anyone have a trick for getting tires to bead/seat? I also tried wrapping the tire with a rope, but that didn't help...

I do heavy ratchet straps around the center and cinch it tight, start adding air until bead seats and only add a small bit after so you can unlock the ratchet strap and then fully air it. Do all my small and medium size tires this way. IMG_1817.JPG

Gotcha. I have tried this on smaller tires before. I didn't try on these tires. They are pretty wide...26x12-12. When I do the other tire I will try this trick.

Yeah if the tires are real wide or with the heavier plys like that sometimes a ratchet strap won't cut it. Worth a try, I have equipment straps that I use for the medium tires, they will take a small bar on the handles to cinch if necessary.

Nice. I was impressed how easy the old tire came off and how easy the new one went on. I used my FEL to break loose the bead on the old tire and then I cut a slit in the side of the old tire and used snips to cut the wires around the rims. New tire went on easy...I seated part of the new tire around the rim, stood on the tire there and then used a pry bar to get it the rest of the way on. Getting the tire beaded was the problem...lol
