After pricing the Kubota work light for the BX2200, I decided I could do better on my own. I thought I would share my approach, since it is a little different than the approach taken by others on this board (see attached photo). Here is what is needed:
NAPA Tractor Work Light #50-620W-3 $8.79
NAPA Toggle Switch #TG6259 $7.49
NAPA Toggle Switch Boot #TG6571 $5.49
14ga. Automotive Wire
Wire connectors
This worklight has a housing made completely out of rubber and uses a sealed halogen bulb. It also has a sturdy mount. I chose to mount the switch onto the housing of the light itself, rather than somewhere on the tractor. I used a punch to make a clean hole in the rubber housing for the switch. I used a high quality switch and added a rubber boot for weatherproofness.
I mounted the light to the bracket on the ROPS normally used for the large triangular reflector, since my BX didn't come with a reflector and I don't see me needing it anyway. The upper square hole in the bracket was perfect for the bracket on the light.
I only needed to run one wire to the connector under the seat. The light is grounded by its attachment to the metal bracket on the ROPS. A star washer should be used on the light mount to ensure good contact with the metal for grounding. I chose to use a 14 ga. black wire for power so that it would blend in better against the ROPS. I routed the wire through the same plastic split-tube that the tail light wires are routed through. This allowed the wire to be protected right up to the under-seat connector.
That's pretty much it. The light is sturdy, effective, clean looking, and was very affordable. I plan to add a couple of small, high quality adhesive wire holders on the very short section of the ROPS where the wire is visible.
I will follow this up with additional photos. In case you're interested, I posted information about my toolbox in a different thread.
Love the BX!
Jeff
