Kubota BX2200
Hey all,

First tractor and still learning what is normal and not. I noticed oil on ground in garage when i moved my tractor out the other day. It seems to be coming from both sides of of the front of the tractor around the bevel gear case by the tires. Is this normal? I see the fluid fill port on top of the front diff shaft. Something i have to just keep filling? Also found that there are bearings and o rings in the diagram you can pull up on messicks.com so possible o ring replacement? Tractor has 1100 hours. Thank for any advice!

Wes

Should refill them with the 80W-90 too or put the UDT back in it?

How do you know it's UDT or SUDT? With 1100 hours, most likely been changed and 80-90 is the preferred change lube oil any way. It's not an 'O' ring, it's a hermetic seal.

Not normal. If it's the front axle, it would be odd to be leaking from both sides. Clean up your tractor so you can figure out where the oil is coming from. It could be the front axle or the steering cylinder. If you don't know when the last service was for the front axle, engine oil/filter, hydraulic oil/filter, or coolant, now would be a good time.

On Messik's they have it listed as "oil seal." Is this the replacement seal I need?

Skipperbrown, I power washed the tractor when i first got it and when i noticed the leak i wiped down the front end section well. Its definitely leaking from axle on both side exact same locations.

If you read your owners manual (if you have one), Kubota calls them hermetic seals in there. In the WSM as well. In as much as I don't deal with Messicks at all, I have no clue what they call them. I much prefer to deal with my local Kubota dealer and I don't pay shipping either, nor do I pay sales tax. I have an ag exemption.

My next suggestion is to take good pictures of the leaking seals and show them to your nearest Kubota service manager. It is likely he or one of his techs has seen it before and can give you instructions on how to fix it, special tools, etc. or an idea of what it would cost them to fix it. Thinking off the top of my head, if the wrong oil was used (e.g. too light), going to the correct oil may greatly diminish the leaking.
