Grading BX2200 and Box Blade size?????

What size box blade are you guys pulling with your BX2200's?

Four feet is the size recommended in the manual, but they are rare in this area and PRICEY.

I can get a five foot for $100 LESS than the four foot! Am I dreaming that my 2200 can pull this thing in hard clay???????????

I really think you would be happier with a 4' blade. I have used some borrowed oversized implements on my 2200, and while I was able to get the work done, the weight of the tool was quite a load for the tractor. I also had to do less work with each pass, and overloading was very easy to do.

I agree with Will C...Spend the extra to get the smaller box.

I can spin the wheels of my B2910 if I catch a rock with the 5 foot box on the back. If you are going to work that box blade, the five footer will be too much for your 2200.

Now if you simply wanted to drag some gravel around and smooth it out, you could use a 5 footer. I'm sure I could use a 6' or larger box blade behind my B2910, if I was only dealing with loose dirt and not trying to dig up hard stuff using the scarifiers...

I have the Woods 48 inch box, and the BX2200 handles this like it wasn't even there, especially when in 4WD. I think it is a perfect match!!

I put a 48" Midwest box blade on my BX2200. It just covers the tracks and weighs about 350 pounds. Seems like a perfect fit to me. I have no problem filling the box and I'm removing an old but stubborn driveway. Yes, it was more expensive than a 60".....If I remember right it was about $325.00 delivered. www.midwest.com

I have to agree with the others. I have a 48' Woods and it seems to be a perfect match. I do not think that I would want to be pulling much more than that on the back of my BX.

I have a 48 inch on my BX22 and I can stop it with a big rock. I would not go any bigger.

I purchased a Bx1800 last week new with a 4 foot box blade. The salesman told me I could use 4,5 or 6 foot but I thought 4 foot was the best and I have been using it all week and it works great. I paid 345.00 for the box blade in south Louisiana.
